LAKAPATI is a queer filipinx founded school of herbalists, somatic spaceholders, and co-liberators. Our mission is to preserve folk healing arts and re-indigenize ancestral practices in the modern age. We are rooted in QTBIPOC community care and joy! We play with plants and planets and they teach us how to (co)regulate with our land(body) to heal the dis-ease within and around us.

From Mabon (Autumnal Equinox) to Ostara (Spring Equinox), we will cocoon together in the void of Winter, and traverse through the deepest, darkest months of the year to uncover what makes this the season of the Wise Ones.

** there are three cities (Kumeyaay/San Diego; Multnomah/Portland; Olhone/Palo Alto) in which you will have the opportunity to attend in-person community gatherings IN ADDITION to our in-person retreat. This is of course dependent on your own location and desire/ability to travel.

SEVEN GATEWAYS 𖦹 SEVEN MONTHS

Introduction to Folk Herbalism and the Ways of the Wise One
This gateway teaches us how to access the wisdom of the natural world while living in a chronically overstimulated society. We will remember the Old Ways, reclaim our indigineity, and learn tools to form a deep Trust amidst the uncertainty of Life. This is the way of the Wise One.
Introduction to Somatics through the lens of yoga
This gateway dances through the doorway, from dis-regulation to regulation. We will study how white supremacy, capitalism, and other harmful systems have attempted to highjack our body’s natural ability to command the nervous system. Spiritual bypassers hate to see us coming! ;)
Shedding the colonial gaze
This gateway is a coming home to love at its core. We’re releasing what’s been expected of us from society, in the realms of gender, sexuality, and beauty. what does loving MY self really mean to ME? Beyond what the current systems have taught me… Alexa, play Mythological Beauty by Big Thief <3
Introduction to breath as a bridge for intergenerational healing
This gateway will explore how to access the wisdom of your ancestors. We will study ancient breathing techniques and share ancestral rituals to clear the cloudiness of the mind’s limiting beliefs and learn how to harness the limitless wisdom already within you.
Intro to Sexual and Sensual Safety through a queer herbalist lens
This gateway teaches us how to confront fears around intimacy and pleasure and inspires us to expand our edges of discomfort together. We will learn how to identify the roots of our limiting beliefs and safely revisit these confronting memories that are keeping us stuck. Rise up into your medicine voice!
Energetic hygiene through the lens of Usui Reiki: Shoden (level one)
This gateway teaches us how to navigate an overstimulating world as a highly sensitive human. We will learn how our sensitivity is not a curse, but rather a powerful compass showing us how to get still and listen to the whispers of wisdom deep in the subtle body. This is an intermediate reverberation of themes from the Gateway of the Sun and will teach you how to develop personal energetic hygiene rituals to support your daily life.
Graduation time!
We will be stepping into facilitatorship and ending our 7-month journey with an in-person closing retreat on Kumeyaay land.
